During the initial consultation, an assessment will be made of what we need to bring.  You do need a functional oven and stove.  We do not typically carry small appliances to each client’s home, however we always have our own cutlery and measuring equipment.

No, however we must have access to your kitchen.  During the initial consultation we will make arrangements to determine how we will enter your home.  If you are home, we ask that interruptions be kept to a minimum, to ensure all meals are prepared in a safe ant timely manner.

The cooking time varies, depending upon the number of servings required and the number of items to be prepared.  A typical day can range from five to seven hours.  Arrangements will be made in advance to ensure the cooking date fits your schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each of the meals is prepared in your own kitchen, using standard food safety guidelines.  If I were to cook in my own kitchen, I would be considered a caterer.  The State of Indiana requires all caterers to use a commercial kitchen approved by the Department of Health.  My personal kitchen is not a commercial kitchen.  Because we cook in your kitchen, we are fully covered by Personal Chef Liability Insurance.

Each meal is packaged according to your specifications, either individually, for a couple, or family style.   Most entrées will be packaged separately from sides.  We prefer to use a vacuum sealer when packaging most meals, to ensure freshness, while others will be stored in freezer containers.  If you do not have freezer containers, some will be purchased for you.  The cost for the containers will be added to your first grocery bill.

The chef fee and grocery deposit are required before the cook date.  A check may be left in your kitchen for the following chef date, or it may be mailed.  The grocery deposit will vary, depending upon how many meals will be prepared.  A bill will be left showing whether you have a credit to your account, or it you owe for the remaining balance of grocery costs.

When do I pay for the service?

This fee covers the cost of small ingredients used in recipes, such as spices, flour, or an egg.  The cost varies, depending upon which recipes are chosen.  This fee ensures we do not have to charge you for a large quantity of an item you do not need.
